Many schools have embraced using social media to advertise and share what is going on in their schools. It is a great tool to reach parents and community members, and is often read more frequently than paper notes being sent home in backpacks. This fall, we started our own school Facebook page. We've shared announcements and events like this:
We were able to share special activities like when the state senator was voting at our school during the general election
Or, when we had a school wide Google hangout with Josh Sweeney or were on the news for our new friendship bench.
We are able to share special class and grade level projects,
We can offer ,resources to parents,
Or, just to have fun and share what is happening at our school!
Many classroom teachers in our building are using closed classroom pages to share what they are learning with just their parents. How are you using social media in your school or library? Share in the comments below!
